We carry Brand Name as well as Generic Medications to suit your needs. What is the difference between the two?

Brand Name versus Generics

A Brand Name drug is a drug that has a trade name. For example Tylenol is the brand name of a drug with the active ingredient paracetamol or acetaminophen in North America, and is protected by a patent (i.e., can be produced and sold only by the company holding the patent). The Brand Name drug is usually more expensive than its Generic counterpart.

Generic Medications are copies of brand-name drugs that have exactly the same dosage, intended use, effects, side effects, route of administration, risks, safety, and strength as the original drug or Brand Name drug. In other words, their pharmacological effects are exactly the same as those of their brand-name counterparts. For example paracetamol is the generic active ingredient of Tylenol and can be manufactured by any company once the patent has expired. Generic Medications offer the same quality as Brand Name medications but at a lower cost.
